Info:
We have one sole purpose: to rescue, rehabilitate and
re-home Dachshunds in need of a second chance at life
and love. We rescue from pounds, shelters and owner
turn-ins. Some have had a wonderful life but others
have been abused, abandoned and/or neglected. We believe
there is a home somewhere for every dog rescued, some
just take a little longer to find.
Most
dogs spend at least a little time in foster care to
evaluate their temperaments, likes and dislikes of
a home setting. This is a vital component to a good,
permanent home placement. Foster homes provide good
nutrition and an understanding lap to prepare our
Dachshunds for life in a world where fear, abuse and
starvation are non-existent for the rescued dog. The
adoption fee is to help cover the costs of rescue
and vetting of each dog. All dogs that come to CTDR
have been checked out by a veterinarian.

Pound Puppies
http://members.delphi.com/poundpups
Our Primary Mission is to rescue the dogs from the pound
at Thorndale, Texas.
We
are a 501(c)(3) non-profit group incorporated in the
state of Texas.
We have an agreement with the city that the dogs are
placed in our care three
|
days
after they are placed in the pound by city workers.
Previously, the dogs were killed, usually within one week,
if not claimed by the owner. We provide the dogs with
medical care and foster homes until we can find them adoptive
homes. We hold adoption events every Sunday at the
PetsMart in Round Rock. All animals which come through
our group must be spayed/neutered. We feel this is the
ONLY way to help in the long run. |

Greyhound
Rescue Austin (GRA) is an all volunteer/nonprofit organization
dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Greyhounds.
The majority of our dogs come from animal shelters or
cruelty cases. These dogs did start out racing on the
paramutual tracks, but then were sold or given to matchracers
or hunters. Greyhounds are discarded mercilessly by
this element, which also can happen to a track dog.
|
GRA
also rescues other Sight Hounds as needed.
GRA
has ten to fifteen dogs on hand at any time. Not all
dogs will be avelable as some will be rehabilitating,
some will be learning about civilization at a foster
home, and others will be waiting for their spay/neuter
appointments.
All
Greyhounds are spayed/neutered, tick disease tested,
heartworm tested, wormed and vaccinated before adoption.
Greyound
Rescue Austin offers free TTouch and Agility training
for recent greyhound moms and dads at the Town Lake
Animal Center.

Helpers

www.pethelpers.com
About Pet Helpers
Pet Helpers is a non-profit animal welfare organization,
whose goal is to reduce the number of innocent animals
being destroyed each year, by placing these homeless
animals in permanent, loving homes.
What We Do
We do not operate a shelter. We provide cats and
dogs with temporary shelter in foster homes located
throughout the Austin area.
|
How
We Operate
We are staffed entirely by volunteers.
We are funded solely by contributions and donations.
Placement of animals is done through adoption days
in local pet stores, advertising, and by word of mouth.
Occasionally we provide assistance for owners looking
to find homes for pets they can no longer keep. However,
because we operate on limited resources, and do not have
a permanent shelter, we cannot always accept animals which
are referred to us. |

Puppy
Love Rescue
Contact:
Puppy Love Rescue
email: info@puppyloverescue.org
We
rescue dogs from the shelter or from the streets and
get them vaccinated and spayed/neutered.
|
We
started Puppy Love Rescue because we believe that animals
should be treated with dignity and respect. Every year
over 15 million animals die in shelters across the country
for lack of homes. By working in the community to educate
people on the importance of spaying and neutering their
pets and making a life time commitment to their best friends,
we want to reduce that number to zero. Puppy Love rescue
has a team of committed people who work with us in the
community to rescue dumped dogs. Some come to us with
injuries from abuse or dog fights, some are puppies who
need basic vet care and time to socialize before finding
a home. When they are ready, we place these dogs in new
homes. Our mission is to not only rehome adoptable dogs,
but to contribute to the reduction in pet population. |

(512) 345-8882 (evening)
Website:
www.austinwesties.org
The
West Highland White Terrier Club of Greater Austin was
formed in June, 1990, as the natural result of frequent
meetings by a small group of Westie fanciers.
|
This group has been steadily growing, and is dedicated
to our goal of preserving the quality of our breed, and
participating in activities that are interesting and attractive
to all members and guests. Since we've been in existence,
we have had several grooming sessions, a mini-obedience
lesson led by an A.K.C. judge, participated in Terrier
Field and Agility Trials, and held several Fun Matches.
Our goals include educational programs at monthly meetings,
and eventual A.K.C. sanctioning to allow Specialty dog
shows.
