Fuzzy Bear, Lemew and Pearl were 3 feral kitten littermates. These
bothers and sister were taken in by Shelley, of Theo's Home, a Foster Home,
Rescue and Pet Adoption organization.
Feral kittens or cats are domestic cats that have been turned loose to live
on their own. The few cats that do survive this tragic fate, become very
wild. Even the young kittens can become violent and bite and scratch if
you get too close.
According to her research, Shelley knew the kittens had to be separated in order
to stop depending on each other. Once the kittens are alone, they no
longer can depend on the help of a brother or sister to fight the rescuer.
After two to three weeks apart Fuzzy Bear actually became friendly and found
a new home. Pearl to had adjusted well to people and found a new place to
cuddle with a loving family.
Lemew was having a more difficult time adjusting. Even after the
separation, the kitten was still scared of people. Though not as violent,
Lemew would run and hide when ever a human approached. As a result, few
adopters were interested in the kitten.
The day finally came when Shelley received a call from a woman. She had
just lost her beloved cat of many years. Hoping to adopt a new furry
companion that needed a home, she called Shelley.
Lemew caught the woman's attention. Though Lemew ran and hid, the woman
fell in love with him and took him home. The next day Shelley received a
call from the woman. Lemew had slept with her all night long.
