Home:    The southern and southwestern coastal areas of Australia and the nearby islands in the open forest or savannas

Food:  Grass

Size:  2 feet
            12 to 16.5 pounds

Life Span:  11 to 13 years

Wallaby Trivia:

  • Wallabies are small to medium-sized cousins of the Kangaroo.

  • There are 11 different types or species of Wallabies.

  • When Wallabies are born, they are the size of your thumb.

  • Wallabies have long tails and like the Kangaroo, hop from place to place.

Two Species of Wallabies are Endangered

Wallabies are hunted for their meat and fur.  As a result, two types of Wallabies are now in danger of extinction.
