Capuchin Monkey Trivia:

  • The darker hair on the head of the Capuchin Monkey resembles the cowl of a Franciscan monk's habit, which is called a capucin.  Thus the name was given to the Capuchin Monkey.

  • Capuchins are quick learners and have very good memories.

  • Capuchins are sometimes called Monkey Mechanics because they can use simple hand tools.

  • Capuchins are often used by organ grinders.

  • Capuchins use many different sounds to communicate with their groups.  They live in troops of 5 to 30 monkeys.
